Tienda y Carniceria Sonia
About This Spot
Stepping into Tienda y Carniceria Sonia feels like entering a warm corner of community life, a spot where familiar faces and the vibrant rhythm of daily routines meet. Nestled on a bustling stretch of Buford’s Main Street, this butcher shop and supermarket invites you into a space where time slows just enough to appreciate the craft behind every cut of meat and thoughtfully stocked aisle.
The atmosphere here hums with a genuine neighborhood energy—unpretentious, welcoming, and alive with the subtle sounds of friendly exchanges and the careful preparation of familiar flavors. It’s a place where the scent of fresh spices and grilled meats lingers in the air, setting an inviting tone that pulls you toward the heart of Mexican culinary tradition woven deeply into the shop’s offerings.
Exploring the selection reveals much more than ingredients; it’s an experience in itself. The pre-seasoned and ready-to-cook meats have a nostalgic quality, reminiscent of home-cooked meals and family gatherings. Shoppers often find themselves drawn not just to the quality and variety but to the ease of discovering something new to savor, whether it’s a perfectly marinated carne asada or the satisfying warmth of a torta prepared on-site.
Behind the counter, the people embody the spirit of this spot—attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable but always approachable. Their warmth turns routine shopping into a subtle exchange of stories and smiles, where recommendations feel personal and every visit a small return to a shared heritage.
For many, Tienda y Carniceria Sonia stands as more than a market. It’s a place that carries the echoes of childhood memories and neighborhood ties, where the pace is measured and the experience lingers long after the last bite of a flan or the final sip of horchata. It’s a quiet celebration of the simple joys found in good food, good company, and a welcoming atmosphere.

The best tacos in Georgia are served here. Try the carne asada and al pastor tacos and don't forget to get some flan or tres leches and an horchata and some Mexican chili mango candy! Tip: try the picana here. Pair it with ceviche and some Mexican rice! Great customer service as well! 5 solid stars! Gracias!

Excellent service. Carne asada tacos were amazing. Much better quality meat than their competitors in the area. Great prices on food and groceries.

A childhood favorite of mine. I remember walking here from those trash apartments across the railroad tracks as a child. It makes me happy to see this gem still in business. Their food is awesome! I love the Barbacoa, tacos and tortas.
